Chinese market is targeted for New Zealand winemakers coping with oversupply

As a debate of restrict or cut production of wine spreads over New Zealand, some of Kiwi winemakers have found their ways, new strategies to increase profits. Not pulling out hundreds of hectares of vines, nor any artisan approaches, but finding new markets in emerging wine consuming countries like China; or replacing any non-performing distributors and using more top-quality grapes in entry-level wines to reduce its stock.

There' re successful expamples, one of which is Neudorf Vineyards, according to New Zealand' s news report.

In the related report, it says the milestone of $1 billion of wine exports surpassed by Kiwi wineries this year was tainted by 20 to 30 percent bulk wine of “questionable” profitability.
