Wine dealers undersold Chinese wines with old labels
www.wines-info.com by Wing 2008-1-24 10:20:21

In 2008, China implemented State Wine Standard. The most focus of the new standard is the dividing methods "Year" and " Producing region".

When the new standard was being implemented, the domestic wine enterprises and dealers were busy dealing with Chinese wines with old labels. The prices of  Chinese wines were seldom sharply reduced or gifting presents.

The new standard is forced to be implemented. It devides wines into five classes, excellent, good, qualified, disqualified and inferior. In addition, it also gives the specific definition for the vintage wines and breed wines. Vintage wines should be labelled the "year" that grapes were picked up. And vintage wines should contain at least 80% of vintage wines. On the other hand, breed wines should contain at least 75% of  breed wines. And producing region wines should contain at least 80% of wines that produce there.

It's allowed to sell wine with old labels recently, therefore many dealers began to undersell those wines. Most of those wines were
Chinese wines. And most of the supermarkets sold them by gifting presents.

The new wine standard can restrict the phenomenons of illusive years and producing regions of Chinese wines.
