Chinese consumption of champagne hit the record of 660 thousand bottles in 2007

Recently, the information from Chinese office of CIVC showed that the consumption of French champagne increased dramatically. In 2007, it hit the record of 660 thosand bottles, increasing 9 times in 5 years.


In recent years, global demand for champagne increased fast. Last year, 150.9 million bottles of champagne sold to more than 190 countries and regions.


In recent years, French champagne eyed on Asian market. Asian consumption of champagne increased from 30 years' 2% to today's 9%.


Although the sale of champagne in China was on the middle lever with the record of 660 thousand bottles of 2007, its market in China developed fast. It created the growing record by increasing 9 times in five years.


The statistics show that English consumers are fond of consuming French champagne at all times. In 2007, English people consumed about 38.97 million bottles.  The top ten consuming markets of champagne are England, America, German, Italy, Spain, Belgium, Switzerland, Holand, Japan and Australia. The EU countries except France consumed 91.4 million bottles of champagne, accouting for 61% of exports, up 9% over that of 2006.
