With the objective to further enhance and enrich the contents and effects of the Macau International Trade and Investment Fair (MIF) and strengthen Macau's role as a trade and economic platform in order to enable business sectors in the SAR to make use of conventions and exhibitions to explore new business opportunities, the Macau Trade and Investment Promotion Institute (IPIM) and the Wine and Gourmet Asia yesterday signed a memorandum of understanding.
The signing of the agreement will further broaden MIF's scope of cooperation in the field of conventions and exhibitions. Since last year, IPIM has signed 13 memorandums of understanding with 14 different trade institutions and exhibitions groups, including Mega Macau, China Hi-Tech Fair and G2E Asia.
The memorandum of understanding between MIF and Wine & Gourmet Asia has been based on the "principles of resources sharing and advantages complementing with the ultimate goal of mutual benefits and win-win results for both events," organisers said, adding that the scope of the understanding mainly includes the holding of MIF and WGA concurrently from October 22 to 25 next year at the same venue – the Venetian Macao. Besides, both events will cooperate with areas of trade visitor recruitment, promotion and publicity and introduction of visitor sources to each other.
Through cooperation, it is believed that both events will attract more exhibition groups and hence bringing in international tourism and leisure investors, trade investors and products to Macau.
In addition, both events will also help promote local small and medium sized enterprises (SME) as well as offer them more opportunities for business cooperation, organisers added.
