The sales of some major wine consumption countries declined since the financial crisis happened last year while emerging countries (especially China) had large potential of wine consumption growth. In the future, China will be the mainstream market of wine consumption.

According to the related statistics, influenced by financial crisis, French wine consumption declined 10% in 2008. In 1Q of 2009, French wine exports declined about 15% in volume and 30% by value. It's the first decline of American wine sales in 15 years. In 2007, American wine sales were 30.4 billion dollars and 30 billion dollars in 2008.

Financial crisis led to the decline of wine sales in the world. However, wine emerging countries is growing. In the future, China may be the mainstream market of wine consumption.

More and more foreign wines entered Chinese wine market. In 2008, market shares of imported wines were about 18%. In addition, Chinese wine consumption increased more than 15%.

Wine consumers are still few in China. Compared with spirit, wine has a larger potential market. With the improvement of economy and consuming capacity, China will be the mainstream market. China's wine consumption will increase fast. Till 2015, sales revenue of Chinese wine industry will be more than 40 billion.
