Legacy to Launch Private Label Andes Primera Wine Collection
money.cnn.com by 2010-01-28

Legacy Wine and Spirits International Ltd. reports that the Company is in the process of producing the first of its own brand of select wines under private label from choice vintners around the world.

The first selection will be from the region of Chile in South America, to be known as the Andes Primera Collection by Legacy. The Andes Primera Brand will consist of red wine varietals only such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Malbec, Camanere and Cabernet-Merlot. Currently, imported bottled Chilean wines in China are competitive in price due to a special trade agreement between the two countries.

According to China Customs, roughly 55 percent of the imported bulk wine entering China the last three years (170 million liters of 305 million liters) hailed from Chile. The vast majority of these imports are blended with domestic wine and sold under local labels.

According to Adam Lechmere of Decanter.com, "Chile has proven itself a producer of some of the finest Sauvignon, Riesling, Pinot Noir and Cabernet blends in the world." At the 2009 Decanter World Wine Awards in Covent Garden, England, Chilean producers scooped trophies in most of the world's great varietals. Of the 24 international trophies, 15 went to the New World, 9 to the old world.

The Company is also reviewing various varietals from vineyards located in Argentina in anticipation of possibly including some of the Argentinian wines in the Andes Primera Collection.
