Organisers of South Australia's Barossa Vintage Festival say about 15,000 extra people have been in the region over the Easter weekend.
The festival's manager, John Pullman, says about 50,000 more are expected in coming days.
He says the wine festival is celebrating its 60th year.
"We know that a lot of people join us in the Barossa at Easter, so we thought if we started a couple of days earlier and commenced Easter Saturday we can ensure that all those that visit the Barossa during that time will go home having had a wonderful time and being part of the festival," he said.
Mr Pullman says the long weekend crowd is evidence of the festival's growing success.
"There would've been somewhere in the vicinity of 10,000 to 15,000 ... well the festival continues until Sunday the 15th of April and we expect anyway in the vicinity of 50,000 over that week," he said.
